Inking Practice

Don’t really draw a lot anymore, or if I do, all I end up doing is doodling faces. Have a new sketchbook though, so decided to challenge myself to do a more complete drawing.

I really need to do this more often.

Inktober

Probably only going to do half assed weekly Inktober things this year.

Inktober is a yearly challenge that artists can give themselves to complete ink drawings through October. It’s a fun thing to do, though I rarely ever finish out a month.

Haven’t done one in years, so figured I would give it a shot. With the first attempt, everything was horribly misaligned so I scrapped that and did a second one laying a grid over the picture I was using and the paper I was using. It was a lot easier from there.

Still, after staring at my face for about 4 to 5 hours, I feel like I am all forehead.

I kind of feel like the way I usually draw with pencils doesn’t fully utilize the advantages the tan paper I was using can give either… so I’m going to have to draw something trying a different method. This time a not-me picture though.

Have been revisiting/rewriting/editing an old story of mine and wanted to try drawing the main character. It’s the first time I’ve actually inked and colored anything in ages. I’m actually a little proud of the inking, but the coloring job is a bit shoddy and I might have to try again at some point.

I also highly suspect that I spent way too much time working on this piecemeal throughout the week to put off actually writing anything. Hrm.

There are definitely things wrong with it and it wouldn’t survive the mirror test if I flipped it, but i still kinda like it.
